May 18, 2023 - Christie® is proud to announce its renewed agreement with Festival de Cannes for the 17th consecutive year, to provide Christie RGB pure laser and Xenon illuminated projection solutions, for what is the world’s most prestigious celebration of cinema. As the official projection technology partner of the 76th Cannes Film Festival May 16-27, Christie projection technology will illuminate more dedicated screening rooms and auditoriums than any other year throughout the city, including the GRAND THÉÂTRE LUMIÈRE.
"We are honoured to continue our partnership with Festival de Cannes, which is a hugely important event on the global cinema calendar," says Adil Zerouali, senior sales director, Cinema EMEA, Christie. "We will showcase this year’s outstanding line-up of films in the most visually impactful and energy-efficient manner yet. Throughout our trusted partnership, we have worked together with the Festival and the Commission Supérieure Technique de l'Image et du Son (CST) to ensure the Festival remains at the forefront of quality in providing the cinema experience, and I’m delighted to see that continue. It’s great to see additional screens returning this year, giving cinematic talent the best chance to shine in Cannes, and further illustrating the power of the cinematic experience."
A mix of our latest RGB pure laser and Xenon-based projectors are installed throughout the city. The Christie Real|Laser™ illumination projectors deliver outstanding colour and contrast, with greater than 95% of the Rec. 2020 colour space. These models offer significant yearly operational cost savings over competitor models, making them the most energy-efficient projectors available on the market.
This year, the Festival’s lineup includes the anticipated screenings Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon, and the premiere of Occupied City, a documentary from Oscar-winning British director Steve McQueen. Christie is trusted by film festivals and leading content creators around the world – including the Toronto International Film Festival, the Shanghai International Film Festival and the Malaga Film Festival – to showcase the latest and greatest films on the biggest stages.
